IND vs BAN WATCH: Shikhar Dhawan Takes A Hilarious Catch With His Knees

It was a terrific batting performance from Mehidy Hasan, who notched up his maiden ODI century, to lead Bangladesh to a total of 271/7 in the 2nd ODI against India, which one would consider it as an above-par score given the turning and slow nature of the Dhaka pitch.

Just like he did in the 1st ODI, Mehidy lifted his side from a dismal situation to propel them way beyond what anyone would have thought when the hosts were reeling at 69/6. He was involved in a big partnership of 148 (165) with senior batter Mahmudullah and later 54* (23) with tailender Nasum Ahmed. Mehidy Hasan’s first ODI century comes after 65 ODIs and 40 innings in the format. Hasan whacked a total of 8 fours and 4 sixes in his superb knock.

Before Mehidy’s bail-out innings though, Bangladesh were in big trouble when they lost more than half of their side in less than 20 overs.

Mohammed Siraj was breathing fire with the new ball and dismissed both the openers, Anamul Haque and Litton Das. Umran Malik then castled Najmul Shanto before Washington Sundar struck thrice dismissing Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Afif Hossain.

Shakib’s dismissal, caught by Shikhar Dhawan, has gone viral because of the upshot of the wicket. On the last ball of the 17th over, Sundar flighter the delivery from around the wicket on the stumps. Shakib was already under pressure of dot balls, having scored 8 runs in 19 deliveries, and went for a big sweep shot. However, he could only manage a top edge that lobbed toward the short fine leg fielder.

Siraj was getting under the ball to take the catch, but Dhawan too ran to take the catch from slip. In fact, both almost collided but Dhawan managed to keep the ball. Replays revealed that even Dhawan had missed the catch; the ball slipped out of his hands, rolled on his arms and down on his thighs and eventually, Dhawan managed to cup the ball between his knees!

The video of Shikhar Dhawan’s hilarious catch with the help of his thighs and knees has gone viral:
