IND vs NEP: Indian Fielders Got Trolled Mercilessly For Dropping 3 Catches

Indian Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first against Nepal in their Group A clash in the Asia Cup 2023 on Monday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Indian bowlers didn’t get to bowl at all against Pakistan a couple of days ago as rain arrived and didn’t relent at all after India’s innings against Pakistan. So, to give the bowlers more game time, Rohit Sharma elected to bowl first.

However, India’s start wasn’t a good one in the field as three catches were dropped. And that all three were dropped from players who are generally considered safe and good catches – Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, and Ishan Kishan.

Shreyas Iyer dropped a chance of Nepal opener Kushal Bhurtel in the first over, bowled by Mohammed Shami, at first slip. To an outswinging delivery from Shami, Bhurtel slashed at it and got an outside edge, but Iyer fluffed the chance at first slip.

Then came an ever bigger shocker as Virat Kohli dropped a sitter at cover on the first ball of the second over. Mohammed Siraj invited a drive from the other Nepal opener, Aasif Sheikh, and the batsman obliged. He hit the ball in the air and straight to Virat Kohli at cover, but Kohli jumped in the air and dropped the catch.

A couple of overs later, Ishan Kishan, the wicket-keeper, dropped another simple chance, that of Bhurtel, of the bowling of Mohammed Shami.

Here, check out all the three dropped catches by Indian fielders vs Nepal:
