IND vs NZ: Selfless Ishan Kishan Made A Huge Sacrifice For Virat Kohli

India piled up 385 runs in the 3rd ODI against New Zealand, on Tuesday, in Indore.

Courtesy of a mammoth 212-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, both of whom recorded their respective centuries, India looked that they would reach at least 400 and could go much beyond that.

However, after breaking the opening stand, which took 26 overs, the New Zealand bowlers fought back brilliantly, and chipped in with regular wickets. Some late hits from Hardik Pandya (54 off 38) and Shardul Thakur (25 off 17) made it possible that India even crossed 380.

Apart from some good bowling and fielding from the New Zealand players post the gigantic opening stand between Gill and Rohit, the Indian batters too helped their opponents with some timid shot-making and an unnecessary run-out.

A mix-up in the middle between Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli resulted in the dismissal of the left-hander, part of the slide of the Indian innings. Kishan tapped a ball from Jacob Duffy straight to cover and set off for a quick single, calling his partner, Kohli, for a quick single.

However, when Kishan was half-way down, and Kohli had had a hesitant start, the left-handed decided to abort the single and turned back. However, by then Kohli was running in his fifth gear and kept running.

Eventually, both reached the batting crease almost together, with Kohli sprinting in the crease quicker than Kishan, who was still ambling on his way back while looking at the fielder, Henry Nicholls, remove the bail at the non-striker’s end.

Kishan had to take the walk back to the dressing room as Virat Kohli had entered the batting crease before him.

Both the batters looked dejected on this run-out. Kohli had his head down, and then both mumbled some words to each other before Kishan walked staring at the Indian dressing room.

The pictures of this dejected Virat Kohli-Ishan Kishan pair after being involved in the run-out have gone viral.
