Indian middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav has been receiving praise from all corners after his incredible match-winning knock to help India upstage New Zealand in the 2nd T20I on Sunday. SKY played yet another blistering knock for the Hardik Pandya-led Indian cricket team and etched his name in the record books as he registered his 2nd T20I century in the shortest format of the game.
SKY walked in to bat when the Indian batters were struggling, however, Suryakumar Yadav walked out with all guns blazing and took the game by storm. Though he took some time to settle down on the pitch but soon he got comfortable and started smashing the Kiwi bowlers to all the corners of the ground. He played a terrific knock of 111 not out off 51 balls, which was laced with 11 fours and seven sixes. Suryakumar was also named the Player of the Match for his batting masterclass.
Ever since his blistering knock, SKY has been trending on social media and has been receiving praise from all corners. Among many, legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli also took to his social media and hailed the brilliance of the star batter. In his Tweet, Virat Kohli, who has been rested for the tour of New Zealand, is currently on a vacation with his family. called him the ‘best in the world’ and stated that the 32-year-old plays ‘video game innings.’ He wrote:
“Numero Uno showing why he’s the best in the world. Didn’t watch it live but I’m sure this was another video game innings by him,”
Meanwhile, after the match, during the post-match press conference, Suryakumar Yadav responded to Virat Kohli’s tweet. In his reply, SKY responded to Kohli’s statement and stated that he sees this as a big compliment and that such posts keep him motivated to continue playing like this. Speaking during the post-match press conference, SKY said:
“I’ll take it as a compliment and try to do it consistently,” He added: “I enjoy batting with Virat Kohli a lot, we have lots of funs. Whenever I bat with Virat Kohli, I have to run a lot between the wickets because he is Super fit,”
With his amazing knock, SKY had become the only second player in world cricket and the first Indian to complete 1,000 T20I runs in a calendar year.
