Former Indian Test team opener Wasim Jaffer is a well-known figure on social media and is a popular name when it comes to social media battles with England legend Michael Vaughan. Recently, he posted his choice of India XI for the first T20I against New Zealand via the micro-blogging site Twitter.

At the time of squad announcement, India had gone with a balanced squad, presenting a mix of youth and experience. Suryakumar Yadav has been named vice-captain for the third consecutive series in a row and has been good on the field as well when Hardik is in the dressing room. India has the opportunity to experiment a lot because the T20I World Cup is next year and can focus on building the right squad for now and play with a winning mentality.

Jaffer made his XI while putting Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill in the opening slot. Ishan Kishan, who made his debut in the T20I series against England, has already made a name for himself with his explosive batting and excellent wicket-keeping skills. Shubman Gill, on the other hand, is a young and talented opening batsman who has been in great form in the domestic circuit. Together, these two players have the potential to form a dangerous opening partnership for India in the future.

In the middle-order, Jaffer has picked Rahul Tripathi and Suryakumar Yadav, who have been in great form in the domestic circuit and have already made their mark in the international arena. Both these players have the ability to score runs quickly and can be very useful in the middle-order. He also named Hardik Pandya as captain of the team, who is known for his powerful hitting and all-round abilities.

In the bowling department, Jaffer has included Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh. Shivam Mavi is a young and exciting fast bowler who has impressed in the domestic circuit with his raw pace and swing. Umran Malik is an experienced spinner who has been in great form in the domestic circuit and is known for his accurate line and length. Kuldeep Yadav, who is one of the best spinners in the world, is a great option for India in the spin department. Arshdeep Singh, who had a torrid time during the Sri Lanka series, is a young and exciting fast bowler who has impressed in the domestic circuit and is known for his swing and accuracy.

Wasim Jaffer, who predicts the Indian team on the eve of the game or in the morning of the game, did so for this T20I as well and chose Kuldeep over Chahal and also picked the young speedster Shivam Mavi in his team. Jaffer believes that this team has the potential to be a winning combination for India and can help them in the future.
