India’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav played a stellar inning in front of a packed crowd at Perth stadium in a big match against South Africa in T20 World Cup 2022 clash on Sunday night (October 30). The outstanding knock came when the other Indian batters were struggling to get going in the middle. From Rohit Sharma to Virat Kohli, everyone failed to get going with the bat because of the bounce and pace of the Perth Track.
Before the game kickstarted, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa but it didn’t turn out the way he expected. The Indian side started with the worst possible note as Parnel bowled a top-class first over where Rahul failed to score any and ended in a maiden. After a couple of tidy overs, Ngidi ruined India’s plans by dismissing skipper Rohit for 15, and later, in the same over, Rahul edged the ball at the slip to Aiden Markram.
The Indian side was struggling badly when Surya came to bat and was at 49/5 at one stage but he single-handedly took India to a safe total of 133/9 in 20 overs. Yes. After Hardik Pandya’s wicket, India was reeling at 49/5 and the onus fell on Suryakumar to do the job.
SKY, who has been doing the finisher’s job for India ever since he made his debut, once again stepped up for the Indian side when they needed him the most. While every other batter struggled for runs from the other end, SKY shone brightly. He smashed 3 sixes and 6 boundaries while batting with a strike rate of 170.00.
