While Virat Kohli forged a rebuild of India’s first innings in the Centurion Test, he got trolled by some fans of Rohit Sharma after Kohli got a lifeline through a dropped catch.
After being asked to bat first by Temba Bavuma, India found themselves in deep waters early on at 24/3 as the Protea pacers ripped the ball off the surface, coupled with some questionable shot selections.
Rohit Sharma got out to a pull shot again in Test cricket – for the 7th time in his last 20 innings away from home – Yashasvi Jaiswal edged while playing a drive, while Shubman Gill nicked while glancing on the legside.Β Rohit managed only 5 runs, Jaiswal 17, and Gill scored 2 runs.
After this, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer started India’s rebuilding. Both played very well – barring one chance that each of them offered. Iyer was dropped by Marco Jansen at point, while Virat Kohli got a lifeline when Tony de Zorzi dropped him at the square leg position.
Both were opportunities that should have been taken by the fielders. On such a treacherous surface, where a first innings total of 300 could prove to be a winning score, these dropped chances could really hurt South Africa big time.

While most Indians had a sigh of relief that Kohli’s catching opportunity was dropped, a few Twitter users, who seem like big fans of Rohit Sharma, said Kohli was lucky and Rohit unlucky!
