IND vs SA Memes: Team India, under interim skipper KL Rahul, started the ODI series with a bumper, one-sided win over South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Arshdeep Singh was the Man of the Match and the star player in India’s 8-wicket win with his magnificent 5-wicket haul that broke the back of the top order of the South African batting line-up.

Arshdeep became the first Indian pacer to take an ODI five-wicket haul in South Africa against South Africa. Before Arshdeep, among Indians, only leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in 2018 in Centurion, had achieved a similar feat.

The left-arm young seamer dismissed four of South Africa’s top five batters today. Arshdeep’s dismissals included Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, and Heinrich Klaasen. He bowled a marathon 7-over spell to return with 4/23. After over half an hour, he returned to dismiss Andile Phehlukwayo to complete his maiden ODI five-wicket haul in what is just the third time he was bowling in an ODI innings.

From the other end, Avesh Khan was at his accurate best as well as kept a high pace. In his 6th ODI match, Avesh recorded his best ODI figures of 4/27. The remaining wicket was taken by Kuldeep Yadav to bowl the hosts out for only 116, South Africa’s lowest ODI total at home.

In reply, India lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early in the chase. But young debutant Sai Sudharsan and Shreyas Iyer cracked entertaining fifties. Iyer scored 52 runs in 45 balls and Sudharsan remained unbeaten on 55 in 43 balls.

This absolute dominating win from India led to a spate of funny IND vs SA Memes.

Arshdeep Singh, the Player of the Match, said: “I feel little sore. Loving this moment. Thank God and the team management. It is a little different than normal grounds as I was running out of breath. Personally it feels good, I am enjoying my role. I would thank KL Rahul bhai as he said you have to come back and get that fifer. I guess it is about enjoying this moment.”
