IND vs SA: Ruturaj Gaikwad Is Getting Trolled Badly After Another Failure

Ruturaj Gaikwad Is Getting Trolled Badly After Another Failure: Ruturaj Gaikwad’s struggles at the international level continued as he was dismissed for just a  solitary run in the second T20I versus South Africa, in Cuttack on Sunday evening. This was after his 15-ball 23 in match-losing cause in the first T20I, in Delhi.

Gaikwad, who was the Orange Cap winner in IPL 2021, hasn’t found his groove at the international level yet – in 5 games, he has 63 runs at an average of just 12 while striking at a lowly 112 with a best of 23. This is in contrast to his IPL numbers of an average of 37 and a strike rate of 130.

This year, however, Ruturaj Gaikwad hadn’t had a great IPL season either – he struggled for timing and a big knock in the early part of the season, and ended up with 368 runs at a strike rate of 126; he registered 6 single-figure scores in the IPL 2022, but got the backing of the national selectors.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Failed Again

In Cuttack, he was dismissed in the first over the innings itself, bowled by Kagiso Rabada. That Gaikwad isn’t successful and comfortable against high pace as much as he’s against spin is well-known. Right from the first ball of the innings, Rabada went for the back of length deliveries to the right-hander who managed one run off his first three balls.

Back on strike for the fifth delivery of the over, Rabada went short again – but it was too short and was wided. Next ball, though, the speedster bowled full and outside off to tempt Gaikwad for the drive, and the batter obliged.

Gaikwad went forward with a booming drive but was loose in shape and couldn’t keep the ball down. The ball flew towards the backward point fielder, Keshav Maharaj, who didn’t make any mistake in gulping the catch to sent back the right-handed opener, Gaikwad.

Ruturaj Gaikwad wasn’t even a first starter for this series, but KL Rahul’s injury paved way for him to get in the eleven.

In two games so far, he hasn’t really impressed and has only a few games left to make an impact on the selectors.

Ruturaj is getting trolled badly

As for today, Gaikwad was heavily trolled and mocked on Twitter for his single-run innings:
