IND vs SL: Sanju Samson Is Likely To Miss The 2nd T20I

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson’s availability for the upcoming 2nd T20I match against Sri Lanka in Pune is in doubt. The Kerala star player has suffered a niggle in his knee and has reportedly not traveled to Pune with the rest of the Indian squad.

Sanju Samson who has been looked at as a part of India’s reboot program for the T20 World Cup 2023, had an off-day during India’s 1st T20I match against Sri Lanka. He failed to fire up with the bat and was caught out after scoring only 5 runs. Samson had just received a lifeline on the previous ball as the fielder missed a chance in the deep but he fell in the trap on the very next delivery.

Not just with the bat, Sanju Samson had an off-day on-field as well as he made a couple of mistakes while fielding too. Nevertheless, Samson made up for all the misfields later in the game as he picked two catches to dismiss Kusal Mandis and de Silva.

Meanwhile, as per a report by Cricbuzz, Sanju Samson suffered a knee niggle in the process of attempting the catch in the first over. He dived to take a catch but failed to hold on.

While the star cricketer carried on fielding during the game, he later experienced swelling and was asked to seek medical advice. Due to the knee niggle, Sanju has stayed back in Mumbai for scans.

The Indian cricket team went on to defeat Sri Lanka by 2 runs in the first T20I in Mumbai in a last-ball finish. Coming out to bat first after losing the toss, the Indian cricket team put up 162.5. In response, the Indian bowlers stole the show with their mesmerizing performances. Young Shivam Mavi made a dream debut as he picked 4 wickets and helped the Indian side bowl out the Lankans for 160 runs.
