Fans Are Slamming BCCI For Ignoring Arshdeep Singh Again

Fans Are Slamming BCCI For Ignoring Arshdeep Singh Again: Madhya Pradesh fast bowler Avesh Khan made his ODI debut on Sunday in the second ODI against the West Indies, replacing Prasidh Krishna in the eleven, and received his maiden ODI cap from skipper Shikhar Dhawan.

And while Avesh got plenty of wishes from fans, they were also left angered, frustrated and baffled by Arshdeep Singh’s non-selection for Sunday’s ODI while Avesh got his chance ahead of the left-arm Punjab Kings pacer.

After a breakthrough IPL 2022 season for Punjab, where he was arguably the best death bowler in the tournament or at least economy-wise in the final overs the second-best after Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep had gotten his maiden India call-up for the South Africa series.

Arshdeep Singh has played only 1 match for India while being in the squad for almost two months

But what has followed must have added to Arshdeep’s own frustrations: benched for all 5 matches vs South Africa, benched for both T20Is vs Ireland; T20I debut in the first match vs England where he impressed very much, bowling a maiden first over and registering figures of 2/18. But then dropped again for the next two T20Is as the seniors returned. Then again benched for the first two ODIs so far vs West Indies.

Fans demonstrated their shock and upsetness with Arshdeep Sing being ignored, especially given that Arshdeep’s numbers in List-A cricket are better than those of Avesh.

In 22 List-A matches, Avesh has 17 wickets at a poor bowling average of 50. On the other other hand, Arshdeep has scalped 21 wickets in 17 List-A games at a decent bowling average of 30.

“Injustice,” is how one fan described this befuddling selection (or rather non-selection) while another was “Surprised to say the least,” that India are failing to utilize a proper left-arm swing bowling option who is excellent in the death overs as well.

Here are the fan reactions:

Arshdeep Singh give a very good performance in t20 debut but i dont know why is still not getting chances……..So bad decision by Rahul Dravid ….😐

Arshdeep robbed 😭

What about A. Singh? Is he a tourist? From Ireland to England to West Indies he got one chance & he took 2 wickets. Why this sort of favouritism? What will happen to his future? In 3 tour he got 1 match, why? Why Khan given chance after chance? In a placid wicket Singh better.

Damn !! Arshdeep singh is underrated and the injustice continues…

List A ODI stats

Matches: 22, Wickets: 17, Eco : 5.43, Avg : 50.2

•Arshdeep Singh:
Matches: 17, Wickets: 21, Eco : 4.76 Avg : 30.9

I don’t know, on what basis these players get picked ahead of Arshdeep Singh! Extremely awful selection. pic.twitter.com/TwfdIa8T34

If India wants a left armer in T20 WC in Australia now was the time to try out Arshdeep Singh, Idk what Dravid and Management is thinking by picking Krishna and Shardul over him.
You cant just take youngster directly into the WC.

West Indies series was the best way to test Arshdeep Singh ability in ODI!

India badly need left arm pacer who can swing the ball both direction during PP!

Not sure what was the reason behind Avesh Khan’s selection as India already have many Right Arm Pacers!#WIvIND#WIvsIND pic.twitter.com/qEj3IxyUkJ

Fir ye bolte h we don’t have left arm pacer 🤡🤡
Jab h to use nahi karte

Avesh khan provide no extra quality in bowling attack

Instead should prepare and groom arshdeep as our 3rd pacer

India badly needs that left armer in white ball format https://t.co/xZbgBqV6LG

Arshdeep should have been there. India needs a good left arm pacer whi can swing too.

Apart from his skillset and numbers, I had really thought that Arshdeep Singh’s left-arm aspect would get him more than just one game in four different series when he was picked first for the T20I vs South Africa..
Surprised to say the least.#IndvsWI
