The recently concluded ODI series between India and England was a run-feast. Both, Indian and English batsmen, scored plenty of runs as the pitches at all the venues were batting friendly. It’s true that cricket is becoming a batsman’s game. From big bats to smaller boundaries, almost every change that has happened in last 5 years or so, has been in the favour of batsmen. However, it would be fair to say that batsmen from both the teams batted exceptionally well and scored big hundreds.

2090 runs were scored in the three matches – which is the highest number of runs scored in a three-match series. 56 sixes and 200 boundaries were hit by Indian and English batsmen, and this also the most by any two teams in a three-match series.

Last time so many runs came in a three-match series, was during a series between Asia XI and Africa XI (1892 runs) way back in 2007.

India’s Kedar Jadhav was the highest run-scorer of the series with 232 runs to his credit. India’s skipper Virat Kohli scored a match-winning hundred in the first ODI but failed to score in the next two. The most memorable knock of the series came from Yuvraj Singh, who scored a massive hundred in the second ODI and formed a match-winning partnership with MS Dhoni, who batted equally well and scored his 10th ODI hundred. England’s captain Eoin Morgan also scored a hundred in the same match.
