ICC World Test Championship: The Indian cricket team is ranked at top of the ICC World Test Championship points table. However, the in-form team has failed to register a single victory in the two-match Test series against New Zealand. In both the Tests, the Indian batsmen have found difficult to face the New Zealand pacers. The pace trio of Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Neil Wagner have troubled the Virat Kohli and his co.

They had started the Test series with just 60 points and were in sixth place. But, the victories over India in the two Tests earned them 120 points. With 180 points, they reached the third place and are just behind India and Australia.

Australia has won 7 games, lost 2 games and drew 1 in 10 matches and are at 2nd place in the Test Championship points table with 296 points. While England is at 4th place with five wins, Pakistan has acquired the 5th spot with 140 points.

Virat Kohli and his company will have a long break for the next Test series. The Indian team’s next Test series is scheduled to place in November 2020 against Australia. The Indian team will tour Australia to play 4 Tests from November 2020 to January 2021.

Here’s How India Can Retain The No. 1 Position In The ICC World Test Championship

If Virat Kohli wants the Indian team to stay at number one position in the ICC World Test Championship points table, they have to win one Test at least against Australia on their soil. Though it is difficult for any team to beat Australia in their own backyard, India have to do it to stay at top of the table.

If they fail to taste a victory in the four-match Test series against Australia, Kane Williamson-led New Zealand or the Australian team will push India to the second or third spot of the table and one of New Zealand or Australia will lead the table.

The Indian team will have a good chance to become the top-ranked Test team again if they lose all games in Australia. In January 2020, England will travel to India to play the five-match Test series. It is not an easy job for the opponents to beat Virat Kohli’s team in India. The Indian team will not have a better chance to stay at top of the Test Champions points table.
