Nathan Lyon was the star of the show on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test match between India and Australia. Lyon bowled brilliantly on a dust-bowl at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. The pitch was turning square and Lyon made full use of the conditions and troubled Indian batsmen with his turn and bounce.

Lyon bowled slower through the air and pushed Indian batsmen on blackfoot with his tight lines and Kumble-esque bounce. With this amazing performance, Nathan Lyon has become the first visiting bowler ever to take 8 wickets on the first day of a Test match in India.

Lyon has also become the first bowler ever to take three 7-wicket hauls against India in Test cricket. It was a performance that Lyon and Australian cricket fans will remember for a very long period of time. It was a performance that made Indian batsmen, including Virat Kohli, look ordinary in their backyard.

Here is list of Australia’s leading wicket-takers against India:

Nathan Lyon – 58 wickets (12* Tests)

Brett Lee – 53 wickets (12 Tests)

Richie Benaud – 52 wickets (8 Tests)

Glenn McGrath – 51 wickets (11 Tests)

Mitchell Johnson – 50 wickets (14 Tests)

Graham McKenzie – 47 wickets (10 Tests)

Jason Gillespie – 43 wickets (10 Tests)

Shane Warne – 43 wickets (14 wickets)

NATHAN LYON DISMISSED CHETESHWAR PUAJARA, VIRAT KOHLI, AJINKYA RAHANE, RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN, WRIDDHIMAN SAHA, RAVINDRA JADEJA, KL RAHUL AND ISHANT SHARMA.

At the end of day’s play, Nathan Lyon said that it’s an amazing day for Australia and he is very satisfied with his record-breaking performance.

“It’s an amazing day for Australia,” said Lyon. “There were some cracks in the pitch and I was trying to hit them.”
