India vs Australia 2017, Third Test, Ranchi: Indian skipper Virat Kohli injured his right shoulder while fielding on Day 1 and he had to walk off the field and stay in the dressing room for the rest of the day.
In the evening, when Kohli went to a local hospital for scans, some reports emerged suggesting Vhe had a ligament tear in his shoulder and was at risk to miss the rest of the series. A man who pushes trolleys around the hospital had everyone fooled. He told some journalists that there is a ligament tear in Kohli’s shoulder and he has been advised to take rest for 15-20 days. Soon, this was published by media houses in India and Australia and it became viral on the internet.
“Virat Kohli has suffered an injury in his right shoulder,” he said. “While the bones are intact, there is a ligament tear and he was having acute problems in hand movement. We have advised 15-20 days’ rest.”
But Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later said Kohli would be able to play in the match after scans revealed no “serious injury concerns” for their star batsman.
“He will continue to receive treatment, which will assist him to participate in the rest of the match,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement on Thursday night.
