India vs Australia : Five Players With Most Wickets In ODIs

The ODI series between India and Australia is just a day away and everybody is excited about that. Both the teams have some high-quality players and it is going to be a highly competitive ODI series. India will miss Rohit Sharma but still, they have a pretty good side with some great bowlers. Australia has all their first-choice bowlers available for the ODI series which is quite rare. It is going to be a battle between the bowling attacks of both the teams when these two teams meet for the ODI series starting at Sydney. Talking about bowlers, there are a few bowlers who have picked up a lot of wickets in India vs Australia ODIs, so, let’s have a look at the five players with the most wickets during India vs Australia games.

  1. Ajit Agarkar – 36 wickets

Ajit Agarkar was one of the most underrated fast bowlers in Indian cricket. He was a great bowler for India and delivered in pressure situations. He was the fastest Indian to 50 ODI wickets. He liked the conditions in Australia because he got the bounce which he couldn’t get in India. He played 21 games against Australia and picked up 36 wickets with three four-wicket hauls. His best figures against Australia were 6 wickets for 42 runs. These are excellent numbers against a team like Australia who dominated World Cricket when Agarkar played.

Steve Waugh was a great batsman and along with that was an effective medium pacer. He has taken 195 wickets in his ODI career. He played 53 games against India and picked up 43 wickets at an average of 29.42 and an economy rate of 4.92. His best figures were four wickets for 40 runs. With 43 wickets against India in ODIs, he is fourth on the list for the leading wicket-takers in India vs Australia ODI series.

  1. Mitchell Johnson – 43 wickets

Mitchell Johnson is one of those fast bowlers who troubled India throughout his career. He used to bowl pretty fast and the Indian batsmen struggled against him. He played 27 matches against India and picked up 43 wickets which include three four-wicket hauls. He is best against India was five wickets for 26 runs. He has taken the most number of ODI wickets of his career against India and hence he is third on this list.

  1. Kapil Dev – 45 wickets

Kapil Dev who is one of India’s greatest cricket players is second on the list with 45 wickets against Australia in ODIs. He started playing ODIs when it was not the most popular format and all the focus was on Test cricket. He has played 41 matches against Australia and picked up 45 wickets with two four-wicket hauls to his name. He was a terrific fast bowler and there is no doubt that he is one of the greatest to have played the game for India.

  1. Brett Lee – 55 wickets

Brett Lee is one of those fast bowlers who scared the batsmen all over the world with his pace. Lee has troubled the best of batsmen in his prime. He is one of the fastest bowlers to have ever played the game. He has played 32 matches against India and has picked up 55 wickets with four-wicket hauls. His best figures against India were five wickets for 27 runs. He was a dangerous bowler against India and hence he tops this list with 55 wickets in India vs Australia ODI encounters.
