Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world at the moment, in all three formats. Since the 2011 World Cup, Kohli has been the highest scorer for India in international cricket, across all three formats. In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15, Virat Kohli has been an absolute rock for India in the middle order. Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer for India in this series so far and he has smashed three hundreds.

Let’s have a look at some of the records that Virat Kohli has achieved in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15 so far:




1) ONLY THREE ASIAN BATSMEN HAVE SCORED SCORED THREE CENTURIES IN A TEST SERIES AGAINST AUSTRALIA

Only three Asian batsmen have scored three centuries in a Test series against Australia. After scoring two hundreds in the first Test of the series in Adelaide, Virat Kohli amassed 169 at the MCG, his third century of the series and highest of career. The other two batsmen to score three centuries in a Test series against Australia are Pakistan’s Younis Khan and India’s legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar. Younis Khan achieved the milestone earlier this year (2014) in UAE, and Sunil Gavaskar achieved during India’s tour of Australia in 1977.


2) VIRAT KOHLI’S 169 ON DAY 3 OF THE THIRD TEST IS THE SECOND MOST IS SECOND MOST BY AN INDIAN BATSMAN IN A DAY OF TEST CRICKET

Virat Kohli scored 169 runs on day 3 of the third Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014-15. Only Virender Sehwag has scored more runs than him in a day of Test match. Sehwag scored 195 runs on Boxing Day in 2003.


3) VIRAT KOHLI HAS BECOME THE YOUNGEST INDIAN BATSMAN TO SCORE 1,000 TEST RUNS AGAINST AUSTRALIA

Ten Indian batsmen have scored 1,000 Test runs against Australia. Among these ten, Virat Kohli, 26 years and 53 days, is the youngest to score 1,000 Test runs against Australia. Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Sachin achieved this feat when he was 26 years and 248 days old.


4) VIRAT KOHLI AND AJINKYA RAHANE’S FOURTH-WICKET PARTNERSHIP IS HIGHEST IN TESTS AT THE MCG
