India’s skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first in the ongoing one-off Test against Bangladesh. India didn’t get to off to a good start as Taskin Ahmed dismissed KL Rahul for just 2 runs. Rahul tried to play an expensive drive early on in the innings and inside-edged the ball straight onto the stumps. But, after that, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara formed a good partnership for the second wicket and put India in a strong position.

Pujara was dismissed for 83 runs but Vijay held his nerves and scored 9th hundred of his Test career. But soon after scoring his 9th Test hundred, Vijay was dismissed for 108 runs which he scored off 160 balls. After Vijay’s wicket, India’s captain Virat Kohli and his deputy  Ajinkya Rahane formed a good partnership for the fourth wicket and put India in a very solid position at the end of day 1’s play.

Captain Kohli scored 16th hundred of his Test career and once again showed to the world why he is called the best batsman across all three formats of the game.
