The ongoing series between India and England is the first time ever that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have agreed to used Decision Review System (DRS) in a Test series in India.

India were set a target of 310 runs to chase in the fourth innings. England’s opener Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed batted brilliantly on day 5 and put England in a very strong position. When India came out to bat, there were high hopes from first innings centurions Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara, after Gautam Gambhir was dismissed for a duck in the second over of the innings. Pujara started his innings in a solid manner but in the 17th over of the innings, Adil Rashid delivered a good delivery that spanned and hit Pujara on the pads. After a strong appeal buy Rashid and close-in English fielders, umpire Kumar Dharmasena gave it out.

Pujara didn’t opt for DRS but the replay showed that ball was pitched well outside the leg-stump and had Pujara gone for the DRS review, he would have surely survived.
