India’s dashing opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan celebrated the ‘International Left Handers Day’ in style as he completed his fourth century in Test cricket. Dhawan achieved the feat during the first session on the second day of the opening Test at Galle, as India continued to dominate Sri Lanka in their backyard. Dhawan, who got a chance early on his innings when he was dropped by Angelo Mathews, looked in great touch and completed his fourth Test century in Test cricket.

It was not an easy pitch to bat as it offered a lot of turn and Dhawan had his nervous moments, but he did not play risky strokes that benefitted him. The left-hander, who became the third Indian opener after Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar to score back-to-back centuries in overseas Tests, raised his century with a four off Dhammika Prasad on the final ball of the 57th over.
