The IPL 2023 is into its fag end of the league phase and in a week’s time, the league phase will be concluded. The tournament has been an exciting one so far with tight finishes, and team logjammed in the middle of the points table. Only Delhi Capitals have been eliminated from the playoff race and no team has yet secured a playoff spot.

Some of the Indian batsmen have performed disappointingly in the Indian Premier League 2023 so far. It’s disheartening to see that some of the underperformers have been senior Indian batters.

Here are 3 senior Indian batters who have been flops in IPL 2023:

Dinesh Karthik

After a brilliant IPL 2022 season for RCB, after which he forced a comeback to the Indian side, Dinesh Karthik has struggled horribly in the Indian Premier League 2023 season. The 37-year-old Indian keeper-batsman, Karthik has not played a single match-winning knock in the tournament which could well be his last IPL season. In 12 innings, Karthik has managed 140 runs at a dismal average of 12 and strike rate of 135, hitting only 5 sixes in total.

Rohit Sharma

The India and Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma, has been largely inconsistent in the Indian Premier League 2023 and has managed just one half-century in 12 innings so far. An average of 18 and strike rate of 128 don’t bode well for the talisman MI opener. In the middle of the season, he also had a rut of 5 consecutive single-digit scores.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal, IPL 2023

Mayank Agarwal, the 32-year-old who is vastly experienced in the IPL, is having a forgettable season for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2023. Bought for 8.25 crore in the auction, Agarwal has failed to repay the faith – he’s not been helped by some chop and changing of his batting order too by the SRH management – and eventually, Agarwal was dropped from the XI for youngster Anmolpreet Singh. In 9 innings, Agarwal has scored 187 runs at a strike rate of only 114 with a best of 49.
