Indian Cricket Fans Are Accusing Virat Kohli Of Running A ‘RCB Quota’ In The Team

The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) announced the 16-man squad for the first three matches for the upcoming 5-match ODI series. The likes of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina were once ignored by the selectors yet again and this created a huge storm on social media as both these cricketers have massive army of fans and they were nit happy by their exclusion.

BCCI announced the squad on their Twitter profile: Kohli (C), Rohit, Shikhar, Rahul, Pandey, Jadhav, Rahane, MSD, Hardik, Axar, Kuldeep, Chahal, Bumrah, Bhuvi, Umesh, Shami #INDvAUS.” Interestingly, Twitterati found something fishy about the lineup.

“The team for the three ODIs against Australia has been selected in line with the rotation policy of the Board and accordingly R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested. The team’s performance during the Sri Lanka tour was outstanding and players like Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal, who performed very well are being given an extended run and this will, in turn, supplement our approach, to build a strong reserve strength, as we prepare for forthcoming tours,” Prasad said.

After the squad was announced, Indian cricket fans on social media accused Indian captain Virat Kohli of favouring Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricketers. If we look at the squad that was picked for the first three matches of the series, there are four players from RCB, including Virat Kohli. KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kedar Jadhav play for RCB in the Indian Premier League and some fans on social media accuse of being biased towards his RCB teammates.

Here are some of the tweets:

We are making Indian Team or Team RCB.. Please stop such favouritism…

OUR VIEW: Fans are absolutely wrong in accusing Virat Kohli of favouring his RCB teammates. All three of the above mentioned RCB players are in good form and they have made a place for themselves by giving good consistent performances.
