Shane Warne, aged 52, passed away on Friday, March 4th, at the Samujana Villas resort on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. He died due to a suspected heart attack; he was found unresponsive and his friend present there at the time, Andrew Neophitou, tried to give him CPR but was unsuccessful in reviving Warne who was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital.
The Samujana Villa resort is the third-largest in Thailand. Shane Warne had travelled with his friends to a luxury island villa that comprises a games room, infinity pool and stunning views of the place.
The group travelled to the island before settling into the villa on the northwest part of the land. Surrounded by scenic-ocean views and white sand, Samujana is located just ten minutes from the airport in the Cheong Mon area, sheltered into the gorgeous hillside.
The villa is reported to be priced between $1000 – $4000 per night. Overlooking a Coral Cove, Shane Warne and his friends were given private beach access and uninterrupted views of Samui. The group was welcomed into modern Thai architecture, stunning views, leisure facilities as well as audio and media amenities.
The villas have up to 1600 sqm of space, king beds in each room and sunny day beds surrounding the pool. With only 23 villas on location ranging from one to eight bedrooms, each is equipped with an oversized private infinity pool. The villa also came with its very own private manager and maid.
The night before Shane Warne was found unconscious, he had uploaded a story on his Instagram to share a view from the villa with a “good night” message.
Local police said Warne’s friend Andrew Neophitou met with him at about 5 pm local time but felt something wrong. He attempted CPR on his friend for 20 minutes before an ambulance rushed to the villa. Warne was taken to the Thai International Hospital where he was declared dead.
Ambulance worker Kittichai Huadmueang told local media that Warne was lying on the floor on the bottom level of the villa.
“The friend carried him downstairs and performed CPR. We requested help from Thai International Hospital to transfer him there, but we were told later that the man has passed away,” he said.
He recalled that there were no wounds on Warne’s body or any hint of a tussle with anyone.
“From what we could observe, there was no wound, no sign of struggle. The room was in normal condition. Everything looked normal, as if the victim was just sleeping in the room, kept cool and comfortable with the airconditioning on,” he added.
