IPL 2017: Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay likely to miss the tournament

IPL 2017: Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay, the two main pillars of the Indian Test team, are likely to miss the entire IPL 2017. Ashwin, who was awarded the best player of the season trophy at the end of the recently concluded series between India and Australia, is suffering from sports hernia and he underwent scans in Mumbai after the final Test of the India-Australia series in Dharamsala.

Ashwin’s injury will be a big blow for Rising Pune Supergiant as he is arguably the best spinner in the world and very effective in Indian conditions. This is a second injury blow for RPS after Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was also ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.

Whereas Kings XI Punjab’s Murali Vijay is likely to take time off to heal his shoulder, which forced him to sit out of the Bangalore Test against Australia. Vijay led Kings XI Punjab in the second phase of IPL 2016. He is one of the star Indian players in Kings XI Punjab’s squad and his absence would surely leave a big void in their squad.
