These 5 Indian Players Will Find It Difficult To Find A Place In India’s ODI And T2OI Teams After IPL 2018

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has given Indian cricket so many talented cricketers by unearthing their talent and providing them a platform where they can showcase their talent to the entire world, and also share the dressing room with the greatest cricketers in the world. In the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2018), we have seen young Indian cricketers make a huge mark by giving consistent performances.

The likes of Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Mayank Markande, Nitish Rana, Surya Kumar Yadav and others have impressed one and all with their talent and skills and pushed the national selectors to consider them for selections.

However, every year, we also get to see cricketers who don’t perform and lose their spot in the national team. In IPL 2018, some Indian cricketers have not performed up to the mark and they might have to face the consequences later when the national squad is picked.

Let us have a look at Indian players who might not be picked in the ODI side after their poor show in IPL 2018.

1) Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat was picked for INR 11.5 crore in the auctions by Rajasthan Royals. It was a surprise pick because Unadkat has not given any outstanding performance in IPL. The major reason behind the huge bid was that there was a very small pool of fast Indian bowlers and, off late, he has been featuring regularly for India in T20I cricket. In IPL 2018 so far, Jaydev Unadkat has played 9 matches and taken only 7 wickets at an economy of almost 10 runs per over.

2) Ravindra Jadeja

The national selectors have made a switch from the duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin to the young jodi of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, in limited over cricket. However, Jadeja was still kept in and around the squad. But, after his ordinary show in IPL 2018 so far, it is almost certain that he will lose his place for the next few series at least.

3) Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey is a very talented young batsman and he has done decently for India in limited overs cricket, in his short career so far. Pandey is a gutsy batsman who can counter-attack and put the pressure back on the opposition. But, in IPL 2018, he has performed very ordinarily so far and has not contributed much to his side with the bat. In 9 matches, Pandey has scored just 179 runs at a strike rate of 114.01.

4) Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami is having a tough time, on and off the field. After picking just 3 wickets in the first four matches at an economy of 10.40, Shami was dropped by Delhi Daredevils and he hasn’t made a return since then. It almost certain that Mohammed Shami will have to battle his way back into India’s playing XI after the horrid show in IPL 2018.

5) Ravichandran Ashwin

Just like his spin-twin Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin has also been cold in IPL 2018. He is leading KXIP very well but his own performances have been ordinary. In 9 matches, Ashwin has managed to pick just 6 wickets.
