Franchises have marked 19th December 2019 as an important date on their calendars as IPL takes another step towards its 13th birth anniversary in April 2020. The auctions will take place in the city of joy (Kolkata) where the team management will want to begin the psychological combat right away.

This year a total of 971 players will be auctioned including 258 overseas profiles. Now that the base price for all players has come out, the Aussie stars expect the highest level of demand. A total of 5 Australian players have the highest base price in the league. Those five players are:

1) Pat Cummins
2) Mitchell Marsh
3) Josh Hazlewood
4) Chris Lynn
5) Glenn Maxwell

Here is a form analysis of these Australian guns –

1) Pat Cummins:

The Sydney superfast bowler is leading the ICC test bowler rankings with 907 points. During the Adelaide test against Pakistan, Pat became the first bowler to take 50 test wickets in 2019. His rich form has been helped the Australians put up a fine show in England and now against Pakistan at home. With speed and swing, there is no notable weakness visible but his fragile body can still be a problem.

2) Mitchell Marsh:

Marsh’s “most of Australia hates me” comment ignited a lot of debate after the all-rounder picked 4 wickets in the 5th test of the Ashes. However, after punching a wall, the Perth star was expelled from the Pakistan series. Mitchell hasn’t played a lot of limited cricket recently and his IPL history doesn’t do justice to his caliber.

3) Josh Hazlewood:

Nathan Lyon in an interview lauded the efficiency of Hazlewood by saying that the pacer is among the top 3 bowlers in the world. The Wales bowler will be making a debut in the IPL auctions this year and with his strong performance against Pakistan, he surely attracts many franchises in search for sheer pace. However, Josh hasn’t been very consistent with the white ball but the IPL could be the best platform for him to unleash all his skills.

4) Chris Lynn:

Just when the retention list came out with Lynn’s name missing in it, the batsman made a strong statement by slamming 91 runs, the highest T10 score for the Maratha Arabians. He has been in good touch and any franchise looking for a blistering opener has an eye on Chris Lynn’s services. Chris has a strike rate just above 140 in the IPL which explains his abilities as a batsman.

5) Glenn Maxwell:

This one’s a tricky choice. Glenn Maxwell has remained out of competitive cricket for some time, owing to his planned break. The franchises could expect the hard-hitting Aussie to continue his form after the break. Glenn scored a quick 62 off 28 deliveries against Sri Lanka before taking the break.
