IPL 2020: Strongest CSK XI If Overseas Players Are Not Available

IPL 2020: The coronavirus outbreak has spoiled all the entertainments in the world. As the coronavirus is spreading all around the world, sports are suspended or postponed all around the globe.

With the 13th season of Indian Premier League is a few weeks away, there was a doubt over the possibility of the cash-rich league. The Indian government has decided to play the IPL without an audience on the ground to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The overseas players can’t enter India if they don’t get the Visa. The IPL franchises are not interested to play the upcoming season of the IPL without their overseas players.

However, even if the government allows the overseas players to travel to India, the other cricket boards might not allow their players to participate in the cash-rich league. It would not be surprising if the IPL franchises are forced to play with the Indian cricketers only. But, we take a look at the Chennai Supers Kings team if their overseas players are available for the upcoming season of IPL.

Openers:

Murali Vijay and Ruturaj Gaikwad:

In the absence of former Aussie cricketer, Shane Watson, the Tamil Nadu cricketer, Murali Vijay will open the innings along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Maharashtra cricketer, Ruturaj Gaikwad can fulfill the role of Watson in the CSK lineup. Gaikwad has scored 843 runs from 28 innings at an average of about 35 with a strike rate of over 135. He also scored 6 fifties in this format. On the other hand, Murali Vijay can demolish any kind of bowling attack once he gets settle. Vijay has scored 2 centuries and 13 fifties in the cash-rich T20 league.

Middle-order:

Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni:

At number three, no one can fulfill the place of Suresh Raina in the CSK camp. Suresh Raina is their most consistent batsman for his team over the years. The left-hander is the second leading run-getter in the history of IPL. Ambati Rayudu, who used to open for CSK in the last two seasons, can play at number four in the upcoming season.

Rayudu is someone who could score runs for his teams at any position. Since he joined CSK, he has been in good form with the bat. He would look to score runs at the middle order too. The former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, who is known for finishing the games, will take the role of finisher.

All-rounders:

Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja:

Kedar Jadhav is a golden arm for his skipper, MS Dhoni. Whenever his skipper wants to break the partnership of opponents, he would give the ball to Jadhav and the later never disappoint his skipper. He can take crucial wickets and can tonk the ball out of the park at the lower order. Ravindra Jadeja is the primary allrounder for the CSK franchise. The left-arm spinner can perform with both the bat and the ball and even contributes with the fielding.

Bowlers:

Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur:

The former Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh is one of the most experienced bowlers in the Chennai Super Kings camp. Even though he could not make an impact in 2018, he was the key player for his franchise in 2019. In 2019, he has picked up 16 wickets from just 11 games at an average of less 20. The right-arm leg-spinner, Piyush Chawla, who was the main weapon for KKR until 2019, will form a spin duo along with Harbhajan Singh. Chawla has played 157 games and grabbed 150 wickets at an average of about 25. He can destroy any kind of batting lineup on his day.

Deepak Chahar made his IPL debut under MS Dhoni when he joined Rising Pune Supergiants. After CSK’s comeback to the IPL, the former Indian skipper wanted Chahar’s service again and acquired him in the IPL 2018 auction. Since then, Chahar has been the key bowler for CSK. In 2019, Chahar has played 17 games and picked up 22 wickets with the best bowling figure of 3 for 20.

Shardul Thakur was not at his best when he played for CSK last year. He could take just 8 wickets from 10 games at an average of 35.12. However, he is still a good bowler who can vary the pace and lengths. He would look to pick more number of wickets if he gets an opportunity in the starting eleven in the upcoming season.
