IPL 2020: Watching MS Dhoni back on the pitch is sure to be a delight, says Virender Sehwag

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag believes that the IPL 2020 season is going to be extra special. He feels so because Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni will be making his way back to competitive cricket after a gap of 14 months. MS Dhoni last played a competitive game against New Zealand in the heartbreaking semifinal loss in the 2019 World Cup. That was his last game in an Indian shirt as he announced his retirement on August 15, bringing the curtains down on one of the most stellar careers the game had ever seen.
“I think this tournament will be extra special for everyone – the players as well as the audience…watching Dhoni back on the pitch is sure to be a delight. There’s so much in store, need I say more?” Virender Sehwag was quoted as saying by PTI.

MS Dhoni has been one of India’s most successful captains ever

MS Dhoni is the only captain to have won all three ICC white-ball tournaments, the ICC ODI World Cup, the ICC T20 World Cup and the ICC Champions trophy. His calmness under pressure and ability to take crucial decisions that would change the face of the game were his biggest qualities. He will continue to lead the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2020 season and will look to win their fourth IPL title.
Virender Sehwag also spoke about the fact that how cricket is treated like a religion in India. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that cricket in India had come to a standstill and for about 5-6 months, everyone including Sehwag himself were trying to be content by watching old videos. However, now the entire nation is looking forward to IPL 2020.
“I’ve spent a lot of my time during the lockdown watching old matches, analyzing them, including my own innings. Cricket forms an important part of our DNA as Indians and we’ve waited with bated breath for it to return” Virender Sehwag said.
The first match of the IPL 2020 is between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on 19th September at Abu Dhabi.
