IPL 2021: After 2 Players Of KKR, 3 Members Of CSK Camp Test Positive For COVID-19

IPL 2021: The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League has been going on in full swing and it has almost reached half-way of the league games. However, ahead of the clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders, fans received a sad piece of news.

Well, in a major scare for IPL fans, the clash between RCB and KKR has been called off after two members of KKR tested positive for COVID-19.

Yes, as per a report by The Age, many players of KKR have been feeling ‘unwell’ and are now ‘isolating’. A BCCI official has also confirmed to news agency ANI that mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and pacer Sandeep Warrier have tested positive for COVID-19 infection. The official said:

Varun and Sandeep tested positive and that made the RCB camp wary of the situation. The game is set to be postponed”

Apart from this, three members from the Chennai Super Kings camp have tested positive for COVID-19. However, those three members don’t include any CSK players.

According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, CSK chief executive officer Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach L Balaji and a bus cleaner have tested positive for Covid-19. Also, if anyone from CSK’s camp returns another positive result, they will have to self-isolate themselves as per the IPL 2021 bio-bubble guidelines. An official announcement from the CSK and IPL authorities is expected soon.

Meanwhile, the source of the infection remains unclear. However, multiple people, including the players contracting Coronavirus infection, could mean a possible breach of the bio-bubble, which raises questions about the tournament’s continuity.
