MS Dhoni might not be the ‘Captain Cool’ of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) anymore, but his batting form is back. Dhoni, who was struggling for some time, returned to IPL cricket with a terrific fifty in the ongoing opening match of IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Well, as MS Dhoni walked out to bat for Chennai Super Kings, as expected, he was welcomed with a huge roar from the fans at the Wankhede Stadium. He walked out to bat at number 7 when the Chennai-based franchise were 67/5 in the 11th over and from there he took over the responsibility of the team on his shoulders as he built the innings slowly before launching an attack on the KKR bowlers.

Well, things didn’t start off well for CSK as KKR got off to a great start with wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Soon the middle-over batters like Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, and Shivam Dube also marched their way towards the pavilion. Chennai was reeling at 61 for 5 in the 11th over when the Wankhede crowd started cheering for Dhoni.
Dhoni took his time and struggled for timing however he picked up some momentum and smashed a quickfire fifty to help CSK post a competitive target. Dhoni and Jaddu added 70 runs for the 6h wicket as Chennai Super Kings as together they lifted their score to 131 for 5 in 20 overs.
Dhoni entertained the fans with his vintage shots as he smashed 7 boundaries and a six as he remained unbeaten on fifty. This was his first half-century in the IPL after 3 years. Yes, you read that right.
