Robin Uthappa turned the clock back! Defending champions Chennai Super Kings are currently locking their horns against Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing 7th match of IPL 202. After the last match defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are desperate to open their account in IPL 2022.
As the game kickstarted, KL Rahul, LSG skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first. Robin Uthappa is one of the strong pillars of the CSK batting line-up, walked out to open the innings for his team. With his charismatic approach with the bat, Robin stole the show as he gave a flying start to his team.
Robin opened the innings for CSK alongwith their young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. He turned back the clock as he revived his glory days for KKR. He walked out with all guns blazing and started smashing the LSG bowlers to all the corners of the ground from the first over itself.
In the first ball itself, Uthappa announced his return as he flicked speedster Avesh Khan for a four, before smashing the second ball for another boundary. Avesh Khan gave away 14 runs in his first over. But he wasn’t done yet, Uthappa then went on to tear apart the Australian specialist Andrew Tye as he smashed some stunning shots — 4,4,0,4,2,4 to take CSK’s score to over 50 on the board.
However, Uthappa’s partner on-field Gaikwad couldn’t do much with the bat and was dismissed early in the innings. Following this, Uthappa joined hands with Moeen Ali and the duo together provided Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with a perfect start. The team added 73 runs in the powerplay overs with a wicket loss.
Uthappa put up a stellar show, opening for his team and giving his best, however, the veteran batter was dismissed as soon as he reached his half-century. During his knock of 50 tuns, Uthappa smashed 8 fours and 1 six.
