Royal Challengers Bangalore’s newly appointed captain Faf du Plessis kickstarted his IPL 2022 campaign with a blockbuster note as he played a terrific captain’s knock against Punjab Kings on their first match on Sunday at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy.
As the game kickstarted, Punjab Kings’ captain Mayank Agarwal won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, the decision backfired on them badly as RCB’s captain Faf du Plessis literally destroyed the Punjab Kings’ bowlers with his aggressive batting.
Skipper Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat started the innings well for Royal Challengers Bangalore and added some quick runs in the Power-Play. However, Anuj Rawal was soon dismissed after Power-play after he was bowled by Rahul Chahar.
Following his dismissal, Virat Kohli joined hands with Faf du Plessis in the middle and together they took charge of the RCB innings as they eye a challenging total against Punjab Kings. Though, they started off slow and took time to settle in but Faf soon switched the gears and took the game by storm.
Faf broke havoc at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy as he rained fours and sixes. He completed his fifty in just 41 balls and following this, there were no turning backs for the captain. He was at 23*(34) before he switched gears and added 41 runs in just 10 balls.
However, he missed out on a well-deserved century and was dismissed after scoring 88 runs off 57 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes.
