Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians continued their disastrous run in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League as they once again failed to open their account. Mumbai Indians registered their sixth consecutive defeat of the ongoing season and this time they were defeated at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants at the Brabourne Stadium.
Lucknow Super Giants were on top of their game today as they put on professional performance, with both bat and the ball. KL Rahul turned out to be the star of the match as he scored a stunning century for his side. With the ball, it was an Avesh Khan-led bowling attack that did just enough to win the game by 18 runs for LSG.
A Super victory for the Super Giants.

After being asked to bat first, KL Rahul walked out to open the innings with Quinton de Kock. KL and Quinton de Kock gave a flying start to Lucknow Super Giants as they added 52 runs but this partnership came to an end in the sixth over.
While the batters kept falling from the other end, KL Rahul kept going and remained unbeaten till the last ball. KL was at his scintillating best as he smashed the Mumbai Indians bowlers to all the corners of the ground. His knock of 103 runs was laced with 9 fours and 5 sixes. All thanks to his knock, LSG was able to post a huge total of 199 runs on the board.
Later, while chasing the target, Mumbai Indians failed to begin the chase on a great note as Rohit Sharma was dismissed early by Avesh Khan. However, Dewald Brevis came out and played another fine knock. He scored a quickfire 31 off just 13 deliveries to help MI post their best powerplay score in IPL 2022 but Avesh Khan got better of him. Ishan Kishan also failed to contribute much with the bat. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav stitched a crucial stand once again but they couldn’t get their team to the victory line.
MI needed 75 runs off the last five overs and to make things worst for the Rohit Sharma-led team, Suryakumar got out in the 16th over and Kieron Pollard couldn’t take his team to the victory line this time.
Meanwhile, social media has been flooded with reactions from fans to the disappointing performance of the Mumbai Indians. Several cricketers, experts and pundits also joined the bandwagon and expressed their thoughts on the poor show of MI.
