Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra was left in awe of the stylish batter of SunRisers Hyderabad – Rahul Tripathi after his blistering knock against Kolkata Knight Riders, that helped his team register their third win of the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Tripathi walked out to bat at the number 3 position after the team had already suffered two early blows in the form of skipper Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma’s wickets. He played a stunning knock of 71 off 37 balls which took the game away from Kolkata Knight Riders.
Good game indeed, @KKRiders ??

Rahul Tripathi showed no mercy while smashing the bowlers of his former franchise, especially Varun Chakravarthy, to whom he smashed him for one four and two back-to-back maximums. That over changed the momentum of the game and snatched the game away from KKR. His stellar knock of 71 runs was studded with 4 fours and 6 sixes.
Meanwhile, the cricketer has been receiving praises from all corners for his terrific performance with the bat. Among many, former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra also joined the bandwagon and penned a beautiful Tweet for the batter.
In his Tweet, Aakash Chopra explained why Tripathi is his favorite uncapped player. He also opined that the cricketer might get a chance to play for the Indian cricket team soon. He wrote:
“Rahul Tripathi is my favourite uncapped player for as long as he’s been playing the IPL. Keeps putting in the performances year after year…selfless…fully committed. May he get a chance to wear the India cap too.”

Later, after the game, Rahul Tripathi talked about his performance and how he has been dealing with injuries recently. He said: ” I have struggled with my health in the past week but the management have supported me. I enjoy it a lot. There are tough days but on good days, I look to enjoy.”
Talking about his performance against Varun and Russell, Rahul said, “Russell bangs in short and I was looking for the pull if he bowled short. Varun bowls well. I didn’t expect him to bowl up. I went with the shot and wasn’t pre-determined. So I thought of putting him under pressure.”
