IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans, one of the two new franchises, have started off their IPL 2022 journey with a bang under the captaincy of all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The team has won both their games so far – against Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals – and now sit in the upper half of the points table with 4 points and a healthy net run rate.

After defeating LSG in a close encounter by 5 wickets, GT downed the Capitals in another tight game by 14 runs. Lockie Ferguson was their star bowler, taking 4 wickets, after the total of 171 was set up by a blazing knock from opener Shubman Gill who scored 84 runs off 46 balls.

After the team’s win against Delhi, the players and coaching staff celebrated the victory in the dressing room, the video of which has been uploaded by the Gujarat Titans. Ferguson, Gill, and Pandya were praised for their efforts in different departments.

Head coach Ashish Nehra was then asked about any advice to the players. Not giving any lengthy speech, in his typical funny manner, Nehra quipped: “Nothing. Eat well, sleep well. We have five days to our third match. Chill. Sleep well.”

This got the players laughing and also the fans chuckling – Ashish Nehra is known for his witty remarks and his hilarious way of conversing. This was just another example.

Skipper Hardik Pandya is pleased with the performance of his bowlers while defending the total against Delhi, especially in the effect of the dew making things difficult for the bowlers.

“Really happy with the way boys are coming out and contributing. The kind of attack we have, we always felt that we can make a score that’s 10 under-par look like 25 above. I thought there were periods were Delhi were ahead, but then that Lockie over really changed things for us. We were about 10-15 short. But with the bowling we have, I’m confident of making it up in the field,” Pandya said.

Titans’ next game is on April 8, against Punjab Kings; the encounter will take place at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
