IPL 2022: Chairman Brijesh Patel’s Net Worth

Brijesh Patel, the Chairman of the IPL, has been an occasional presence on our television screens when he attends an IPL game or is part of the award handing ceremonies in the league and in the auction.

Brijesh Patel is a former India batsman who represented the country in 21 Tests and 10 ODIs between 1974 and 1979 managing just over 1200 runs combined at an average of 30 with a solitary century and also played in the 1979 World Cup.

However, Patel was a prolific run-scorer in domestic cricket, amassing over 11,000 first-class runs in 203 first-class fixtures and slammed 37 tons. At one time, he held the records of most runs (7126 at an average of 57.00) and most centuries (26) in the Ranji Trophy.

Born in 1952 in Baroda, Patel represented and captained Karnataka in domestic cricket. Following his retirement, he became a cricket administrator. Patel was he became a national selector and then went into administration and was elected secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

He was also appointed the Director of the National Cricket Academy in India and has also been the head of operations at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise.

The 69-year-old is currently the chairman of the IPL Governing Council (GC), a position which he took in 2019.

According to thesportsgrail.com, Patel’s net worth stands at $1.5 million. His wife’s name is Toral Patel, they have a son, Udit, and a daughter named Taryna. Udit, a spinning all-rounder, has played first-class cricket for Karnataka from 2003 to 2015. He has picked 68 wickets in 35 games and averaged 16 with the bat. He was also part of the RCB squad in 2009.

Brijesh Patel also reportedly owns a private cricket coaching academy in Bangalore called B.P.C.A. (Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy), where over 300 players attend to learn and hone their skills.
