What an absolutely brilliant game of cricket that was! In the end, it was Lucknow Super Giants who jumped to the second spot in the IPL 2022 points table after defeating Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. KL Rahul-led team got better off the Delhi Capitals as they defeated them by six runs and registered their third consecutive victory.
After winning the toss, Lucknow opted to bat first. KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock walked out with all guns blazing as they posted 42 runs in just 4.2 overs before de Kock was dismissed by Shardul Thakur. However, captain KL Rahul continued with his excellent form with the bat. He formed a brilliant partnership with Deepak Hooda and both of them took the LSG score past the 130-run mark before Shardul Thakur made Hooda his second victim.
After Hooda’s dismissal, KL Rahul switched gears and started scoring quick runs before Shardul got yet another wicket as he picked the wicket of Rahul for 77 runs. Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis took the team’s score past the 190-run mark in their 20 overs.
Later, while chasing a big total, Delhi Capitals had the worst possible start to the innings as their openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner were sent back after the third over. However, Mitchell Marsh (37 off 20 balls) and skipper Rishabh Pant (44 off 30 balls) joined hands and steadied the ship of their team.
However, KL Rahul rotated his bowlers very smartly to get better off the opposition. Once Rishabh Pant fell, Delhi kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel did try their best towards the end but the team fell short of 6 runs.
Meanwhile, fans on social media started trolling Delhi Capitals after their horrible batting collapse during the game.
Check out some of the reactions:
Ponting to Marsh who walked without nicking

This is the Mitch Marsh that has played like this for Aus and Scorchers of late. #DC still can chase down this total with Marsh still in the middle #IPL2022 #DCvsLSG

Bit of musical chairs this season for LSG no.3 spot, but I think in @HoodaOnFire they’ve found a long term solution. Impressive how he’s taken on a more responsible batting position without sacrificing his natural attacking game
