Rajasthan Royals’ opening batter Devdutt Padikkal continued with his disastrous form in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Padikkal, who had impressed one and all with his stunning performances in the previous edition of the IPL, is struggling to score runs in the ongoing season.
Devdutt Padikkal has not been in the best of forms this season and has been playing a perfect second fiddle to Buttler this year. Padikkal seems to struggle against the moving ball as he was dismissed by RCB’s Mohammad Siraj in the previous game on the same length. During the game, Padikkal was dismissed for 7, against KKR he got out for just 2 off 5 balls.
On Monday, Devdutt Padikkal and Jos Buttler walked out to open the innings, after being asked to bat first, however, they failed badly to give a good start to their side. Padikkal’s stay in the middle was cut short in the third over as senior pacer Umesh Yadav bowled a stunning delivery around the off stump to get rid of the opening batter. Padikkal walked back to the dugout with just two runs to his name.
Sanju Samson was the only one who could get going against KKR bowlers as he played like a lone warrior for his side in the ongoing game. He was dismissed by Shivam Mavi on the first ball of the 17th over of the game. Samson played a captain’s knock of 54 runs off 49 balls, smashing 7 fours and 1 six.
Rajasthan Royals finished at 152 runs after 20 overs as Shimron Hetmyer 27 (13) in the end smashed KKR’s Southee and Shivam Mavi for a quick push on the scoreboard.
Meanwhile, fans on social media were left disappointed with the poor batting show of Devdutt Padikkal, who is now getting trolled badly on social media.

Devdutt Padikkal numbers are almost as poor as those of Venkatesh Iyer. Another batter who hasn’t clicked at all this season. 10 matches, 214 runs, avg of 23.78 and SR of 125.15.

RCB started the Devdutt Padikkal fascination & RR are bluntly following it.
Had Yashasvi Jaiswal played as many games as Padikkal since IPL 2021, he’d have been more impactful.
Padikkal’s a great talent, but better in the longer formats than T20.

Umesh Yadav strikes and gets Devdutt Padikkal, brilliant from Umesh. He’s been excellent in Powerplays for KKR.
