IPL 2022: Fans Are Trolling Rohit Sharma After His Poor Performance

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has continued with his dreadful form in the ongoing IPL 2022 season. He couldn’t even get runs on his birthday as the opener managed just 2 runs in 5 balls on Saturday against Rajasthan Royals at the DY Patil Stadium.

Having lost 8 out of 8 matches, MI needed their skipper to lead from the front with the bat and be an inspiration for them in their run chase of 159 versus a strong RR bowling attack.

Mumbai got off to a cracking start with Ishan Kishan, another out of form MI batter, whacking a six and three fours in the first couple of overs. Seeing the pacers go for runs, Sanju Samson, the RR captain, brought on experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for the third over.

Wanting to target the off-spinner, Rohit Sharma decided to go big against the ball turning into him. Ashwin boldly tossed it up on full length, inviting the big shot from the MI captain, to which Rohit obliged going down on his knee and attempting a slog sweep but was beaten by the extra bounce that Ashwin generated because of his height.

A top edge went up in the air and Daryl Mitchell positioned himself in the backward square leg position to gobble up a simple catch. Ashwin was elated to get rid of the birthday boy and gave RR their first breakthrough.

Everyone was expecting a return-to-form knock from the birthday boy, however, he disappointed them once again, continuing his poor rut this season.

Sharma’s tally of runs now stands at only 155 in 9 innings at an average of 17.22 at a strike rate of 123; his best being 41 which came in his first match this season. He has now been dismissed for 10 or less 5 times in 9 matches this season; in the other four innings, he’s got promising starts but has failed to convert it into a big score.

As usual, netizens jumped on Rohit Sharma for his dismal show. The India captain was trolled heavily after he bagged another single-digit score.
