Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rinku Singh was involved in a heated exchange with the on-field umpires in a DRS controversy during his game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Pune.
In the 12th over of KKR’s innings, Rinku Singh, who was batting on 5 runs off 5 balls, was trapped plumb in front by seamer T Natarajan as the left-hander missed the yorker completely and it hit him on his toe. The umpire promptly gave Rinku out.
That’s when the drama began. Instead of Rinku Singh, the batsman in concern here, it was non-striker Sam Billings who signalled the ‘T’ for DRS. Both the batsmen were now having a chat in the middle when the 15-second DRS timer went on. As the umpire asked Rinku to start walking to the dressing room, the batters were left confused.
Senior umpire Anil Kumar Chaudhary took charge and tried to explain to Rinku and Billings that since the latter had signalled for the review it wouldn’t be counted; according to the rules, it should be the batsman given out, in this case Rinku Singh, who should have signalled for the review.
The southpaw though remained adamant about having a review while both the umpires tried to rationalise with the youngster. Even SRH skipper Kane Williamson came in for a little chat with Billings.
Eventually, after plenty of discussion with the umpire, Rinku Singh slowly took the walk back to the pavilion.
Twitter users had a laughter riot with this as Rinku Singh is a favourite among netizens. Some found the funny side of this incident while some suggested Rinku should have himself signalled for the review and shouldn’t have had such a long argument with the umpires.
Here are some of the best, hilarious reactions to this Rinku-DRS saga:

Worst umpiring again. He was too late to give out. Also there was confusion running. Left no time for taking DRS. Whose fault?

Listen commentary please don’t post half info
Billings signalled review and Rinku thought it will be reviewed.
DRS law states
While fielding ,the Captain must take the call
While batting the batsman involved in decision must take call.
That’s was the confusion. https://t.co/QcmlxFgRu9— Vidit Chauhan #Sidheart (@vidit2022) May 14, 2022
