A fantastic auction, a clean slate for the players, no one main man – these have been the ingredients or the secrets for the success of the Lucknow Super Giants in the season so far, according to mentor Gautam Gambhir.
KL Rahul’s unit has been a top contender for the title right from when the mega-auction was completed as the Super Giants looked like a complete unit with almost all bases covered. On the field, they have played to the expectations, winning 8 out of 12 matches and are looking set for a playoff spot.
Gautam Gambhir said that half of the battle was won with brilliant auction strategies and their proper, satisfactory execution at the mega-auction in February. He also added that though the franchise is a new one, but the players are still the experienced ones.

“The auction is very important. 50% of the job is done on the auction table. It helps the management when you pick a good side. But as long as they don’t perform on the field, it doesn’t matter even if you pick the best possible players. The franchise is new but the players are not new. This is not an excuse as all the players are experienced,” said Gambhir.
Gautam Gambhir also stressed that there the Lucknow Super Giants is one unit and there is no individual “hero worship,” adding that stepping into a new franchise, players feel fresh and donot carry any baggage from their previous seasons.
