India and Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma turns 35 today, April 30, and wishes have been pouring in from all corners on social media. Amid all the birthday wishes for the ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma, one tweet from Gautam Gambhir has gone viral. Gambhir’s tweet epitomizes Rohit’s legacy as one of the best white-ball batters in the world.
On Saturday morning, the two-time IPL winning Kolkata Knight Riders captain wished Sharma in a hilarious manner, saying that the MI opener is the only batsman who has “given me nightmares” as a skipper. Gambhir added that he’s now fortunate that he doesn’t have to take the field against Rohit Sharma.
“Birthday greetings to the only batsman who’s given me nightmares as a captain. Thankfully I don’t captain anymore,” Gambhir tweeted. The tweet has already received over 25,000 likes.
Rohit has a enviable record against KKR: in 30 innings versus KKR, he’s scored 1018 runs at 44; his only IPL century came against Gambhir’s team.

Fans and experts are craving a big knock from the MI captain on his special day as he has struggled for a significant innings in the ongoing IPL 2022. In 8 innings, Sharma has managed 153 runs at an average of 19.12 while striking at a mediocre 126 with a best of 41. As many as 6 batters – including pacer Jaydev Unadkat – have a better average this season so far than the MI opener.
As a consequence of their skipper’s own dipping form, MI as a unit have also been unable to get even a single victory in their 8 matches so far. Having lost all their matches so far, the five-time champions are virtually eliminated from the playoff race. They will take on the second-placed Rajasthan Royals on Saturday evening at the DY Patil Stadium.
The Mumbai Indians squad celebrated Rohit’s birthday with a special blue and orange cake. The franchise uploaded the video in which the opener cuts the cake; his wife Ritika is alongside him and other players also feed him the cake.
