Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle had decided to take a break from cricket on Monday evening. With his busy schedule for IPL commentary duties, he is a guest on the Cricbuzz Live show, and other brand endorsements, Bhogle had thought of giving himself some time off of cricket on Monday.
However, an hour into Monday’s game, between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, his plans had been messed up by Jos Buttler and he was glued to his television screen watching the maverick English batsman unfurl his magic.
The KKR pace trio of Umesh Yadav, Pat Cummins and Shivam Mavi looked innocuous at the Brabourne where there was no swing available, nor any help from the surface for Varun Chakravarthy, as Jos Buttler teed off in the way Jos Buttler does.
The Orange Cap holder of the season further distanced himself from the second-place KL Rahul, who has 235, by smashing his second century of the season.
On the 15th anniversary of the IPL, a decade-and-a-half after the night in 2008 when Brendon McCullum, the former KKR opener, glittered up the tournament with his 158*, Jos Buttler threatened to do something similar versus KKR when he brought up his century on the first ball of the 17th over, swatting Pat Cummins over long-on.
As Buttler got into his groove, Harsha Bhogle from his hotel room tweeted: “I thought I would take a holiday from cricket today. Noticed that Jos Buttler has put on a show. Back watching!”

Following Butler’s century, Bhogle further lauded the opener, ever adding that, in his opinion, Buttler is the best T20 opener currently.
“What a player. That was some innings! #JosButtler. Best opening batter in T20 cricket,” Bhogle further tweeted.

In 6 innings this season now, the England opener has thumped 2 half-centuries and 2 centuries, sitting on 375 runs now. Fans are even wondering if Buttler could go past Virat Kohli’s 973-run record from 2016.
