Royal Challengers Bangalore finally opened their account in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 3 wickets in the thrilling low-scoring game on Wednesday. Veteran keeper Dinesh Karthik scored the winning runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore to take them to the victory.

Chasing 129, RCB were jolted early by some terrific bowling from KKR pacers Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee. RCB found themselves in some deep trouble with 17/3 in just 2.1 overs, losing openers du Plessis and Anuj Rawat following which Umesh Yadav got the big fish, Virat Kohli.

However, David Willey (18) and Sharfane Rutherford (28) formed a crucial partnership and helped RCB recover from the top-order collapse. Apart from them, Shahbaz Ahmed came up with a quickfire 27. Just when things looked like going in favor of RCB, their batting order once again started shaking towards the end overs as Tim Southee picked up 2 wickets, including that of Rutherford and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Needing 17 runs in the last 2 over, RCB had their experienced batter Dinesh Karthik in the middle and as expected he did the finishing job to perfection. 7 runs were needed off the last over and Dinesh Karthik pulled a MS Dhoni as he smashed Andre Russell bouncer to a six before hitting a boundary to ensure a victory for his team.

It has to be noted that, Dinesh Karthik had hit 32 off 14, hitting 3 sixes and as many boundaries in RCB’s opener against Punjab Kings however his efforts went in vain as Punjab Kings managed to chase down the target.

Meanwhile, DK has been receiving praises from all corners for his terrific cameo that came out in crucial time. Famous cricket analyst and commentator Harsha Bhogle also took to his Twitter and posted a beautiful tweet for DK, which is now going viral. He wrote:

“Never ever think @DineshKarthik is done …..”
