Uttar Pradesh’s young talent Rinku Singh is receiving praises from all corners for his terrific and match-winning knock that helped his team Kolkata Knight Riders to register their fourth win of the season. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets to end a five-match losing streak in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
It wasn’t a comfortable win for KKR but Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana batted superbly together with the former smashing the bowlers to all the corners of the ground. He scored an unbeaten 42 off just 23 deliveries with six fours and one six. Though, KKR was under a lot of pressure but Rinku maintained his composure at a time and saved things from going south.
Meanwhile, after the game, Rinku revealed that he had written his score on his palm before the start of the match. The candid conversation between Nitish Rana and Rinku was shared by KKR via their official Twitter account. Here’s the transcript of their conversation:
Nitish Rana: “What have you written (on your hands)?”
Rinku Singh: “I was getting a feel that I will score runs and get Player of the Match today. And I wrote 50 runs on my hand and drew a heart.”
Nitish Rana: “When did you write this?”
Rinku Singh: “Before the match today.”
Nitish Rana: “How did you know that you will score this much today?”
Rinku Singh: “I was waiting for a long time to get a Player of the Match. It came after 5 years but it came at last.”

Rinku did not manage to get to his maiden IPL fifty but his knock has kept KKR in the hunt for a playoff berth. Though the left-hander is just 24-years-old but he has been a part of the cricketing circuit for more than 7 years now. He was only playing the third game of the ongoing season but he impressed one and all with his batting performance. He was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
Furthermore, in the candid interview, Rinku talked about his struggles and battles with injury. He also revealed how he had to wait for regular chances to make an impact in mega tournaments like IPL. He said:
“A lot of players have played Ranji from Aligarh, but I am the first to play the IPL. This is a big league and there is a lot of pressure obviously. I have been waiting for the last five years to get a chance. I worked very hard, came back from injury and did well in the domestic circuit as well. When I was batting, Bhaiyya (Rana) and Baz (McCullum) told me to stay till the end and finish it,”
