For match 62 of IPL 2022, the Chennai Super Kings meet the Gujarat Titans on Sunday afternoon at the Wankhede Stadium.
MS Dhoni‘s side are already eliminated from the IPL 2022 playoff race – they made four changes to their eleven to give opportunities to the benched players – having 8 points in 12 matches. On the other hand, with 18 points in 12 games, table-toppers Hardik Pandya’s team is the first to qualify for the playoffs and a win today will seal them a top-two spot.
Here’s why CSK and GT players are wearing black armbands

Fans observed both CSK and GT players wearing black armbands during the encounter. The reason for that is that both the teams are paying a tribute to the deceased Andre Symonds who passed away in a tragic car accident on Sunday morning in Queensland. Hence the players of both the teams made this gesture – of sporting a black armband – in memory of the legendary all-rounder.
Rest In Peace, Andrew Symonds.
Your presence around the game will be missed.

“Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Hervey Range, around 50 kilometres from Townsville that’s taken the life of a 46-year-old man last night. Early information indicates, shortly after 11pm the car was being driven on Hervey Range Road, near Alice River Bridge when it left the roadway and rolled,” the police statement said.
“Emergency services attempted to revive the 46-year-old driver and sole occupant, however, he died of his injuries.”
Born in Birmingham and raised there by Australian parents, Andrew Symonds declined England’s offer to play for them and decided to play for Australia; he featured in 26 Tests, 198 ODIs and 14 T20Is in an international career spanning from 1998 to 2009. He scored 1462 Test runs at 40 and 5088 ODI runs at 39. Symonds took upon T20 cricket like fish to water, averaging 32 at a strike rate of 147 across 93 short-format matches.
