The Delhi Capitals have had a topsy-turvy season so far with 3 wins in 7 matches as they take on the Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday evening at the Wankhede Stadium. They have made a change in their attire for this game: instead of their regular dark blue and red outfit, Rishabh Pant‘s side donned a lighter shade of blue with coloured stripes spanning across the bottom of the jersey.
This different jersey is part of the franchise’s special initiative in partnership with the fundraising and fan engagement platform MatchWornShirt. These jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned in which the Capitals fans can place their bid and have the opportunity to get signed t-shirts of the players, while also raising funds for charity.

The bids placed by the fans will help the franchise raise funds for the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) Vijayanagar, which is a unique initiative led by the JSW Group, the DC co-owner, and is India’s first privately-funded High-Performance Training Centre that trains talented young athletes across various Olympic disciplines. The funds raised through auctioning of the shirts will be used in nurturing the present and future sporting athletes.
Speaking on this initiative, Vinod Bisht, Delhi Capitals Interim CEO, said that they have always aimed at giving back to society and they make sure that the DC fans are part of every activity the franchise does.

“Giving back to the society and making sure our fans feel they are an integral part of the Delhi Capitals family, has always been at the heart of our franchise. We always try to make our fans a part of everything we do. This time, the team will be sporting a special jersey, and I am sure fans will be excited to own it as well as help us in raising funds for the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), which has given and been producing the sporting role models for our country,” Bisht said.
Meanwhile, speaking about the game, DC have welcomed back Mitchell Marsh to the team after the Aussie was infected with covid-19. Also, left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya makes his Delhi debut.
