Avesh Khan has made giant strides in his career in the past year. He was the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2021, while bowling for Delhi Capitals, and then was bought for 10 crore by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Avesh also made his debut for India in T20Is earlier this year.

While he’s going from strength to strength on the cricket field, things have been difficult back at home for Avesh Khan and his family as his mother was recently hospitalised due to an infection, the pacer revealed after his Man of the Match worthy performance against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“I would like to dedicate this performance to my mother who is hospitalised. I received a lot of support from her. After the match, I picked up my phone and connected with her on a video call and gave her the details of the match. By God’s grace, she is fine now,” Avesh Khan had said after the match vs SRH.

Avesh Khan helped LSG defend a par total of 169 against SRH with a four-wicket haul that included wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran, and Abdul Samad.

Bearing the heavy pain of being away from his ill mother who is in the hospital, Avesh Khan turned up for the game against Delhi Capitals on Thursday. Before the start of the match, the pacer was being interviewed by the host broadcaster when he revealed that his mother had also had breast cancer a couple of years ago but thankfully she had recovered from it now, updating that she’s feeling fine now.

“She’s (his mother) fine now, still in the hospital. She has urine infection and two years back she had breast cancer, so that also affected her but now she’s doing fine. I am feeling good about giving a match-winning performance in the last game, but everyday is a new day and I will try to bowl with the same rhythm and win my side the game,” Avesh Khan said.

While Avesh Khan had an off game against Delhi – he leaked 32 runs in 3 overs – but the other bowlers managed to restrict the Capitals to a par total of 149, which the LSG batters chased down with 6 wickets in hand. Lucknow now go to the second place in the points table with 3 wins in 4 matches.
