MS Dhoni brings out his vintage ‘orange’ gloves: Before the start of IPL 2022, there were doubts over MS Dhoni’s effectiveness with the bat, given he’s well over 40, has had two poor seasons as a batsman and has also just given up captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings.

However, MS Dhoni shut down his doubters in style on Saturday evening against KKR in the IPL 2022 season’s opening game at the Wankhede Stadium with a brilliant 50-run knock off 38 balls after coming into to bat in a difficult situation and taking CSK to a fighting total.
It was a typical MS Dhoni knock: slow at the start, gets his eye in, assesses the conditions and targets his bowlers, before unleashing mayhem in the death overs.
What caught the eyes of the fans later on was that Dhoni was wearing bright orange coloured gloves while wicket-keeping. This was a change to the camouflage ones and those that had the army insignia on them in the past seasons.

Seeing MS Dhoni wear the orange gloves, fans were quick to recall that MS Dhoni wore similar orange mitts at the very start of his international career. Photos of him with orange gloves against KKR and at the beginning of his international career, when he had the long stylish hair, started doing rounds on social media. Fans felt that this is a big hint that Dhoni has given that the IPL 2022 will be his last IPL.

Dhoni slammed a brilliant fifty after coming in to bat at 61/5, and with the support of Ravindra Jadeja, who although struggled to middle the ball, the former and new captains took CSK to 131.
That total, however, proved to be comfortable for KKR batters to overhaul. KKR won the game by 6 wickets, led by Ajinkya Rahane’s entertaining 34-ball 44, followed by twenties from three more batters as Dwayne Bravo’s three-wicket haul went in vain.
