Former India cricketers Suresh Raina and Irfan Pathan were involved in a gripping, typical television scene when the latter pulled a hilarious April Fools prank on the former while discussing live on Star Sports, during one of the IPL 2022 matches.
The pair were discussing the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings on April 1st (April Fools’ day) when something made Pathan apparently unhappy giving Raina nerves before he broke the heat with laughter.
Irfan was asked by the host which team was the favourite in the game – the latter picked Punjab Kings. Suresh Raina said that Pathan picked Punjab as favourites because the all-rounder had previously played three seasons for the franchise and also brought up co-owner Preity Zinta’s name which enraged Pathan.
“This is not right. Cricket main female angle lana zaroori nahi hota (it’s not always necessary to bring the female angle while talking cricket),” Pathan said, feigning disappointment by Raina’s comment.
Irfan was upset by this remark from the former CSK batsman and then exited the shooting area and sat in a nearby seat. Suresh Raina was confused by Pathan’s reaction. He then went towards him and asked him to return to the show. Pathan accepted the invitation and soon burst into laughter along with the two hosts, revealing that it was an ‘April Fool’s Day prank. Breathing a sigh of relief, Raina said he, too, enjoyed this prank.

Speaking about Suresh Raina, Mr. IPL went unsold in the February mega-auction with not even CSK bidding for him at his base price of 2 crore. After that, he joined the Star Sports hindi commentary panel for the season.
